Gimme Shelter:
Weathering the Storm
in an Archetypal Cosmos
Sunday, April 28, 2019
2 – 5 pm
Sylvan Community Center
7521 Community Drive, Citrus Heights
The evidence of consistent correlations between planetary alignments and world events, as seen through the lens of astrology, can provide us with a much needed context for our wildly dramatic time. Understanding the cyclical patterns and historical trends that preceded this moment can help us engage with greater consciousness and skillful intelligence the powerful forces now active in the world. In this sense, astrology can be seen as a kind of cosmic extension of the depth psychology project initiated by Freud and Jung over a century ago: helping us become more conscious of the unconscious, less like puppets and more like co-creative participants in relation to the archetypal powers within and around us.
What is the current planetary situation, and which gods are now in dynamic motion? And how might our contemporary culture be transformed by the recognition that an intimate bond exists between the deep psyche and the cosmos? Join Richard Tarnas this afternoon for a discussion of the cosmological implications of astrology, and a “state of the world report” on the archetypal context of our national and global moment.
Richard Tarnas, Ph.D., is the founding director of the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He teaches courses in the history of ideas, archetypal studies, depth psychology, and religious evolution. He frequently lectures on archetypal studies and depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, and was formerly the director of programs and education at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. He is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a history of the Western world view from the ancient Greek to the postmodern widely used in universities. His second book, Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network, and is the basis for the upcoming documentary film Changing of the Gods. He is a past president of the International Transpersonal Association and served on the Board of Governors for the C. G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. His website is CosmosandPsyche.com (more…)

Astrology, Emotions, and Soul Growth
Sunday, March 24, 2019
2:15-4:45 pm
(NCGR Sacramento General Members Meeting precedes at 1:30 PM)
LOCATION
Sylvan Community Center

Where are is the emotional profile seen in our horoscope? How do we recognize central themes, and how does that help us? Is it possible to see the circumstances or events in our early home when we first experienced these feelings which make up our “emotional dimensions”?
This workshop presents a process for looking deeper than surface display of emotions, into the core of our emotional self. It is a process partially developed by astrologer Noel Tyl, and then extended by me for spiritual development, soul growth in this lifetime.
Together we will be looking at how the planets in fourth harmonic aspects (the conjunctions, squares and oppositions in our chart) can be seen as the building blocks for these emotional dimensions. When planets are in tension we experience feelings surrounding the original experience of it. Why? Because human emotional conflict is for soul growth – and our reason for being here!

Let’s explore the karma of relationship, both gifts and challenges. As we evolve through life we have numerous opportunities to transform—or repeat patterns endlessly. This unique inner relationship wiring is particularly evident through key planets such as Venus and the Moon and their relationship to outer planets, plus houses, signs and asteroids. Using chart examples, pro-active analysis and guided imagery, we will come to understand evolutionary lessons and transformative healing practices, and learn to manifest the highest expression of our natal relationship code.

Uranus, Gaia, and Change
Sunday, January 27, 2019
2 pm – 4:30 pm
NEW LOCATION
Sylvan Community Center
7521 Community Drive, Citrus Heights
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto represent powerful forces of change and transformation. They operate on large cultural levels and in our personal lives. They can be disruptive, emotionally difficult, and sometimes liberating. The changes symbolized by Uranus in particular often have an “out of the blue” feeling that can surprise, shock or awaken us. We crave change and we often fear it, but life itself is continuous change that can’t be stopped.
Uranus will make its full-scale entry into Taurus on March 6th 2019. The last seven years of Uranus in Aries have been pretty raucous. Now the focus of change is shifting to the earth sign Taurus. The next seven years could be pivotal in our relationship with Gaia, Mother Earth. The genius quality of Uranus may well prove to be our best hope for saving the planet. Understanding how Uranus operates in our chart and in the world can help us stay flexible and ready for change. Join us in exploring this amazing planet as it awakens, surprises and hopefully inspires us.
Chet Zdrowski has been a student and practitioner of astrology since 1977. He studied for several years with the late Richard Idemon and 12 years with Steven Forrest. Chet’s greatest pleasure is to alert people to their unique gifts and individual path, and to help them understand and navigate their current life challenges. In addition to working with clients, teaching and writing, the primary focus of his current work is presenting Dane Rudhyar’s teachings in an accessible and entertaining form to astrologers everywhere. Chet is the founder and leader of the “Transpersonal Astrology Group” that meets in Fair Oaks California. You can reach Chet at www.czastrology.com.
