This event is open to the public and designed for the “astro-curious”, as well as the already starry-eyed. The mission of Sacramento Area Astrologers is to be ambassadors for astrology in our community. We especially welcome newcomers to astrology. Our activities will include the following:

Linda Kubota Byrd is a certified DREAM COACH and has used Astrology as a personal growth consultant for 20 years. She was on the volunteer team of the Aspire Foundation using Transformational Astrology for 10 years and has earned a Level Two Certificate from Steven Forrest’s Evolutionary Astrology Apprenticeship Program. She has studied with John Ruskell, Gavin Carruthers, Tom Lescher, Maurice Fernandez, and many others. Facilitating workshops for 16 years she incorporates Astrology, Energy Psychology, Grapho-Therapy, Conscious Creating, NLP, etc. to help people manifest authentic, rich, fulfilling lives.

If Astrology is alive, how do we experience it? One way to experience astrology is to look at it in a different way, literally. Rather than thinking in words and literate terms, let’s render astrological archetypes, or symbology, in visual terms. Rendering the astrological pantheon in visual terms has many inherent benefits including bypassing the literate brain and accessing not only the subconscious, but also all of the collected visual and related data stored in each person’s databank brain. We will discover a new visual foundational framework from which to present astrology. Utilizing the power of imagery, consider, if you will, the planets as actors wearing the costumes or using the tools of the various Zodiacal signs while performing on one of the 12 stages or houses of life. The presentation will include an experiential session where everyone will have a chance to view their charts in a new way via AstroCards.
Michael Bartlett
Michael Bartlett is a practicing Astrologer and Business Consultant who lives in Santa Fe, NM. Michael brings a grounded astrological understanding which he sees in visual images or metaphors. He uses these visual metaphors to translate Astrological archetypes in an accessible manner for the level and understanding of each client he sees. Michael also draws from a blend of other methodologies and is always working on improving his astrological knowledge utilizing knowledge from as many sources as he feels are applicable given the needs of his client. He has a background in a body oriented process called Core Energetics which gives him the ability to help clients look at their issues in different ways. Currently he is working with Alan Oken in creating an Exoteric and Esoteric on-line Astrology Certificate Program as well as offering in-person and on-line Astrology classes with Leslie McGuirk. Lecture Details
We will cover the mythology of the dwarf planet Ceres in depth, to include environmentalism, issues of loss and abandonment, nurturing and life cycles. Ceres packs a powerful psychological punch where it falls in our charts, so we’ll be touching upon its impacts, especially as it relates to contacts with other planets and house transits. Anyone who is interested in finding the strength and resiliency of their anima will enjoy learning about about this empowering planet for it teaches us how to overcome loss and find grace, despite difficulties.

Georgia Dempsey: I am new to the astrology scene but am hooked! Started studying 5 years ago as a lark to survive a difficult work situation. In time, I started to see priceless things playing out between charts and that was a huge epiphany. As a NPS Ranger, you know that we are all connected on a certain level. All it takes is watching energy cycle through nature to come to that conclusion. To see that theme played out again through the heavens was an awakening and a reaffirmation of the thought that we are all truly in this thing together. Astrology has thus become a part of spiritual path. —

Of the hundreds of planetary aspects we astrologers use every day, there is only one which renders a planet invisible: a conjunction with the Sun. Despite the frequency with which this occurs, there is disagreement about how to interpret it. Does visibility matter? Traditional astrologers certainly thought so: modern astrologers, not so much. Join Linea in a fascinating exploration of “combustion,” as this position was traditionally called. Both classical and modern views will be explained, as well as the psychological expression and resolution for this common chart condition. Workshop includes a much deeper look, including techniques from other traditions, a more thorough discussion of astronomy and related mechanics, plus descriptions and chart examples for each planet.
Linea Van Horn
Linea Van Horn is the Astrologer-at-Large – a professional astrological teacher, counselor, mentor and networker based in San Francisco, her home of 40 years. She is certified through NCGR-PAA and has studied astrology for more than 25 years, all the while raising three wonderful children. A full-time professional astrologer since 1998, she is the founder and president of the thriving San Francisco Astrological Society and serves as vice president and education director of NCGR’s San Francisco chapter. Linea is on the NCGR Board of Examiners and served on the NCGR National Board in 2008. She was employed as the manager of astrological information at Astrology.com from 1998 to 2005 and as the content manager for The Astrologer, Inc., an online content provider, from 2005 to 2009. Linea currently devotes herself full time to teaching and mentoring, counseling, writing, consulting, and blogging. She can be reached at linea@astrologeratlarge.com.
